Maekawa Jiro Asian Persimmon

A uniquely cold-hardy tropical tree. Large, seedless persimmons have a conical shape, and are firm and crunchy, with the sweet taste of fresh sugar cane. The time to pick is when the fruit turns orange and the flesh is still firm, like an apple. A perennial taste-test winner! The naturally-dwarf size (rarely taller than 15’) makes fruit-picking easy. Excellent pest- and disease-resistance. This tree will also suffer heat, drought and humidity without flinching. Ripens approximately one week earlier than Ichi-Ki-Kei Jiro, in September. Grafted. Self-pollinating, but will produce more/larger fruit with a Jiro (Fuyu) nearby.
